Gas Lift Systems

Gas lift is a method of lifting fluid where relatively high-pressure (250 psi minimum) gas is used as the lifting medium through a mechanical process. This is accomplished by one of the two following methods:

(1) In continuous flow

(2) Intermittent flow

An often overlooked feature of gas lift is its flexibility. Well characteristics are often unknown, and it is entirely possible that a well may be lifted by either continuous or intermittent flow. A well that has been designed properly may produce 1000 B/D of fluid or only 50 B/D. Most other types of artificial lift would require different types and sizes of equipment to offer this flexibility, whereas one gas lift installation could produce efficiently at either rate.
